4-H & Education
Skagit County 4-H is a part of the Extension system, which operates in partnership between Washington State University, local county government, and Skagit families.
4-H is considered an informal educational organization. The University provides leaders and youth with learning materials that are research based, and educationally focused. The programs are experiential, "learning by doing" or "hands-on." Public events are often the "learning spaces" for 4-Hers.
The 4-H program also provides a great deal of adult education in volunteer training and management, as well as organizational opportunities at the state level. We believe people participate in 4-H because of a love for kids, and a love of hands-on learning.
